My inquisitiveness towards logical and analytical approach led me to take up Computer Science as my major in high school. I was completely astonished on realizing that how easily understandable, methodical and vastly applicable C++ language was. My high-school final project was an ATM software developed using C++ which had the complete user interface for banking coupled with data security. I was successful in achieving 90% in the 12th class and was awarded the gold medal for excellence in academics for seven consecutive years by the chief minister of the state. This brilliant performance in school as well as in the entrance examination helped me to get admission into Shri G. S. Institute of Technology and Science, one of the most esteemed colleges in India on the basis of All India Merit.
In my freshman year, my curriculum consisted of the course “Introduction to Computer Programming”, which tipped the scale of my interest completely towards the field of computer programming. I took this up as a challenge to constantly learn and improve my skill set in the field of programming along with maintaining a decent GPA in my Electronics and Telecommunication stream in my under graduation. While working to attain proficiency in languages such as C, C++ and JAVA, the object-oriented programming approach grabbed my interest. I learned the applications of these languages in data structures and in designing and analyzing efficient algorithms in various Operating Systems environments like Linux, Windows, and iOS.
“Practice what you preach” has always been a foremost principle in my life. Therefore, I decided to put my programming knowledge and skills to test. I worked on building two corporate projects. The first one was a Library management system which was developed for the Swati Jain Institute. The project was built using C programming and helped the administrator keep track of all the issued books along with enumerating the dues of all library users. The second one was a Restaurant management JAVA application which I developed for my uncle’s renowned restaurant, Pakwan. The project served the purpose of inventory management as well as the listing and bill generation for each customer’s food order.
During my under graduation, I got an opportunity of doing a full-time internship at the Newgen Software Technologies, which is the leading firm in developing ATM software in India. In the span of my internship, I developed a real-time file security application on the JAVA platform. The project was developed under the guidance of Mr. Rajesh Patil, who works as the Projects’ Leader in the firm. The main aim of the project was to develop an application in which files from a user accessible folder was encrypted and moved to a secure location which can only be accessed by the administrator, as soon as the user terminated the session. The industrial experience I received in that period was indelible and turned out to be a remarkable learning curve for me.
Learning and implementing new technologies is something that is always on the top of my checklist and that is the reason why I chose to become a member of Swati Jain College Incubation Centre, Indore(Approved by Govt.). Under the guidance of Mr. Nikit Phadke, an entrepreneur in the Silicon Valley and an alumnus of Swati Jain Institute, I learned the fundamentals of designing, new web technologies and most essentially the React Native framework. After the initial learning period, each one of us started developing an Android application using React Native. The project was then graded and approved by Mr. Nilesh Jain and Mrs. Swati Jain, Chairpersons of the Swati Jain College. Furthermore, during my summer break, I got the position of teaching assistantship at the Swati Jain Institute, where I taught 40+ GRE/SAT aspirants which was all-together a prodigious experience.
Since my schooling days, my parents ensured that my involvement in the extra-curricular activities was never compromised. A bronze medal in the state-level swimming competition, winner of inter-school group dance competition and the runner-up position in intra-college quiz competition delineates my all-round abilities. I have also held the position of the cultural head of my college in the senior year and organized various national-level events. Even as a leader, I always believed that teamwork is the key to success and this helped me in shaping my personality as an individual. Moreover, being an ardent member of the Rotary International, I have tried to serve the community to the best of my abilities.
My goal is to work in the IT industry as a professional with skills and the knowledge required to create products which are not only profitable but are also beneficial for the society. With the basic knowledge and skills, I now see masters as the next indispensable step which will take me closer to my goal. After a substantial amount of research on the courses offered by the Department of Information Technology and Web Science at your university, I found the MSIT course of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute the perfect option in order to shape my academic and professional career. I find keen interest in Prof. Peter Fox’s work on data science and analytics and so I wish to do my research in the same field under his valuable guidance. Additionally, the field of information security has time and again fascinated me and hence I wish to research under Prof. David L Spooner in that field.
I am convinced that my academics from school till the completion of my under graduation, GRE score 321/340, academic and corporate projects, industrial experience, my research interests and my persistent allegiance towards my career are well suited for your program. Therefore, I sincerely request the admission committee to consider my application and provide me with this golden opportunity which will help me in achieving success in my career.
